simple and thought why I have never really think of this shawl before. It’s from a ‘vintage’ Japanese crochet
pattern book that is no longer being printed ( or sold maybe).
And I started right away with it with the orange wool yarn that was
lying around waiting to be turned into something useful and beautiful.

small booklet from Flow Magazine which I have had for some time but did not
really put my mind on. It’s ‘The Joy of One Thing at a Time’ notebook. Yes, one thing at a time. I guess this hit me real hard as all this
time I just move from one project to another without any timeframe or target of
when it has to be finished. So now, I
try to apply this on my crochet projects.
I have a lot of WIPs and decided that it’s time to do something about
it, having some finished and just needs to seam all the ends and an almost
finish project, I made a list of which one I can finished first. The list goes on and on … but at least I am
more aware of what they are and try to do the which goes first on the to be
finished list.

It has been a long time since I bake anything and share it in the blog.
A few days ago I crave for something old fashioned, and remember this cake from my childhood time. My auntie (my mom's younger sister) used to make this cake.
Finally I have something to write this year ....

I have a couple of balls Alpaca yarn from Drops Design, I wasn't sure what I want to make with it when I bought them. And suddenly after browsing through other blogs and I saw this shawl in De Haakzolder blog I suddenly felt this is the one I want to use this yarn for. So I went to Drops website to look for the pattern and you can find it here.

I use the blue color hues and think to add red for the lace border. I called mine Denim Tranquality because I see the colors like denim colors,

Yes, I am behind with the CAL blanket project but slowly catching up.
Have another blanket in the making also but I will tell you all in another post. This one is actually now already in week 32, I have just print the rest of the pattern and crocheting slowly but sure everyday now.

Here it is I finally add some bold color as I thought it looks so cold, I just use any acrylic yarn I have at hand and add some new color when I see some are nearly gone. So this blanket may have finish in colors differently from when I start it.

Hallo again, it's been sometime since I last post. Yes I know, I promise to post more often but it still is not happening. Anyway, here is the story behind my Orange Clutch ... (not exactly mine actually):

Orange clutch
Novita Huvila, hook 2,25mm

Last week my cousin ask me if I can make a clutch for to put her wallet and phone when she goes out for lunch at work. And I said yes .... I didn't even know what it would be like but I just say yes.

She wanted orange as it is one of her favorite color at the moment ....

So after looking for some idea on pinterest, I come up with this shell motif and all the time I just change how it will look like as the final product. The reason for the changes was that she has quiet a big wallet from the measurements she gave me, so I checked all the time if it was okay. Finally I add the side so it will be a bit thick. It's now finish ... well almost finish, I am making the handle at the moment and still have to line it. Taking the time, while my mind is already in vacation.

Hopefully she will be happy with the end result ....

Thanks for trusting me with making the clutch sweet cousin ...

Have a nice Sunday everybody ...
I finally made a decision to be involved with CAL 2014, from a face book group called Dutch Crochet, a Granny a day 2013. I had been looking at all the nice blankets (dekens in Dutch) all the ladies had made. I have to say it all just make my hand itchy to also join in, but i wasn't sure until just a few days ago.

I have to say, I made the right decision not only to join the CAL but also to dare my self in posting the few rows that I have crocheted last yesterday. And oh boy, what a surprise I got from all the ladies!!!!
I am so pleased, they are all so supportive, knowing that this group is in Dutch a language that I have learnt in my teen, even though I use it in talking with my mom at home occasionally. It's a great feeling, when you are around people with the same passion. and you know you can count on them for advice and support.

Here is the few rows I crocheted yesterday .

I crochet with hook 3,5 and 4, acrylic yarn.

It has been a good day ....

Just yesterday I had to shortened hubby's jeans and when I finished it I thought about sewing the kitchen towels I found in Red Cross second hand store about 2 months ago. I found a very interesting inspirations in one of Mollie Makes magazine about a woman who turned old kitchen towels with bold nice pictures. And I want to make them too, so when I score some kitchen towels in Red Cross second hand store I know I had to buy them.

Here is a picture of the three pillow cases I made yesterday. The crocheted one I finished sometime ago but have just finished it into a case. While the other two are the ones from kitchen towels I found.

Here is a picture of the kitchen towel pillow case (the one on the back) :

I choose red and yellow buttons to add more interest to it and sew it with embroidery thread.

And the small long pillow :

I love the picture in this kitchen towel, it's about cheeses from all over France.

Spring is about to arrive .... enjoy the sun ....

On Friday I bake brownies cause a friend is coming and wants to have a good time with her. So, since I have not bake anything for quiet some time I think I make something easy first. Also cause the ingredients that I have at home allow me to make this cake. Some friends ask for the recipe when I put up the picture on fb.

I used to have the book from NCC (Natural Cooking Club) with this recipe in it, but since I lent it out to a friend and have not got it back, I go their (NCC) page to get the recipe.

But I will write it here for everyone who wants to try it.
I am thinking of changing the blog name to 'my life in finland' since I want to share about some things in my life too in this blog. While I still blog about things I make, I can also share of what I do what I think.

Winter has just begun here in Finland, I mean just because the snow has started only like two weeks ago. Today it is not that cold, when Mikael want to play on the swing outside, so I thought why not.

After putting on all clothes we are ready to play outside. The breeze of winter cold welcome us as I opened the flat building door, Mika just ran out to the snow which is about 15 - 20 cm high. It is so fun, throwing snow at each other and pushing him on the swing ... he also play on the slide and got his body in the snow, listening to him laughing was so good. He is a happy boy ....
Christmas is gone and in a few days New Year is coming. A lot of us has done their 'Resolution for the next year', while I am still holding a book with blank pages in it. What do I think about next year? What my plans are? Hmmm ... shall I make a Resolution list of what I am going to do next year? i don't really like the word 'Resolution' for this particular thing. Maybe I'll just call it '2014 forecast list', which to me is more flexible than resolution.

So, last night I came up with two main things I will put on my forecast list for 2014, and that is:
* Weekly Crochet Block, and
* Weekly Knit Block
* Sew more
* Start on the selling items I make and make it happen.

I have put the name of blocks that I will be making every week for the crochet blocks, but haven't found any yet for knit ones. As far as color theme I just going with what stash I have now so I can use them little by little. In the meantime, I will have to work on my schedule list to make it happen for the work I am doing from home, house chores, gym and my crafts.

Will see how it's going in January, as I want things to be flexible so I can be making a block a week or maybe there will come 2 blocks. I have to make sure that I work harder than this year.

Have a Happy New Year every body .... see you all in January 2014!

Yesterday I go for coffee time at a friend's house, she had a baby girl about 5 months ago and I have not seen her since before summer holiday. It's been so long .....

I can't go to her place not bringing anything for the baby, can I? Nooo, noo .... so the night before I looked for any crochet idea that can be make in a short time .... a very short time actually, just one night. Huh huh ..., so I start browsing through my favorite blog Annemarie's Haakblog, there you can find all great links to other crochet blogs. It is from her blog I found the link to .... uups I forget the name of the blog (damn) ...- I will look for it and when i find it I link it here.

Anyway, I made this with Primavera Cotton and it turn out so cute, my first attempt to this baby toy ...

I am happy with it, even my 9,5 yrs old son said it is cute ....

I had a great time at her place, chatting having coffee and eating macaroni casserole that she made.

Too bad I had to go home at 14:00 cause my son didn't bring his key and I had a business call to attend to between 14:00 - 15:00 ....

Anyway after some emails to and from the editor of the magazine, we got the revised one (maybe just for those who has been asking for it).

I use Finnish yarn Rose (mohair) from Novita to make this in blue and it turns out very nice. The yarn has sequins on it so it gave some sparkle to the bolero.
It's an Owl Hat which is very popular lately.
Last month in Helsinki there was a Craft Fair, and I just had to go and see. Luckily my husband was able to take me there, and at the same time and place there was also the Children's Show, so the boys were having a good time as well.

I found the book Virkkuri, wich was written by Molla Mills a very hip crocheter in Finland. At first I browse through her book as it is in Finnish and was not sure if I would be able to understand it, but surprisingly it was very easy to understand and follow so I bought the book and also got the signature in it. She happened to be at the craft show. What a beautiful woman she is .... and the same time there was also another writer Elina Hiltunen who wrote the Amigurumi abc which is very cute. They are both very nice people, love meeting them both .....

and here are the books that I bought at the craft show
This is my first day of post in this blog, have been thinking of doing this for quiet a long time ... but there is always something that stop me from doing it.

I may not good at blogging all the things I made all this time, but will definitely try to write it here.
There are a lot of craft blogs that really inspires me to make things, especially crochet. I am into crochet since I move to Finland in 2003 when I got married. While I don't know anyone when I first arrive, I was pregnant after one month married. And I just got to do something, so I started to crochet again when I saw some yarn and hooks.

I bought many books and yarns, about crochet and knitting I did for sometime got the cross-stitch bug but that didn't last long ... to fiddly for me when I have to change thread every now and then.

I hope this will be a beginning for my blogging life and will make new friends along the way .....
