Triangle Chain Stitch Orange Shawl

I know that on my last post I mentioned that I will not start a new project, until I finished any of my WIP's.  But, as you all probably know I am not good at doing that, so I start on a new project.

I had been looking for a very simple chain stitch shawl, after browsing on Pinterest and then my books I found one that is so simple and thought why I have never really think of this shawl before. It’s from a ‘vintage’ Japanese crochet pattern book that is no longer being printed ( or sold maybe).  And I started right away with it with the orange wool yarn that was lying around waiting to be turned into something useful and beautiful.

Yarn used : 7Veljestä from Novita Oy
Hook : 4mm (Clover 6/0)

Thanks and bye,
Wilma

Omslaagsjaal or Wrap Finish

Finally the Saskia omslaagsjaal is finish.  I am really satisfied with the result.
It’s warm but not hot and since it is made with cotton yarn it’s keeps its shape.

Spring time has also arrived in Finland although it is cold when the wind is blowing.  So still wearing jacket when I go out, but not for my son he only have his t-shirt and College … of he goes on the scootie.

Have a nice sunny weekend everyone ...

Bye for now

Saskia’s Omslagsjaal a.k.a. wrap

Just yesterday I was browsing thru some blogs that I followed and when I saw this wrap I know that I have to make it, I looked into my yarn stash and found 5 balls that I want to use for this wrap.

This is made with Tennesse Novita yarn, which is a cotton yarn.  The first few rows I use a 3,5mm but then decided to go up to 4mm hook and happy with the result as it drapes more and feels softer.
I also got a little help from Spud of Bob the Builder when taking some pictures.

more to come next week ... so don't forget to come by ..

Flower Granny Square

It's Saturday and everything goes a little slow at home.  Don't have to wake up before 6 o'clock is a nice thing once in a while.

I was browsing at some pages in face book that I liked and come across Dada's Place where she share about her crochet designs and I am totally in love with her blanket that is the Flower Granny Square blanket.  And I just happen to have some of the same color she use in her tutorial.

Here are some of the squares that I made, am very happy with the result.

I used hilla cotton yarn from teetee, it's Finnish yarn and they come in great color.

Have a nice weekend everyone ......

CAL deken week 18

Yes, I am behind with the CAL blanket project but slowly catching up.
Have another blanket in the making also but I will tell you all in another post.  This one is actually now already in week 32, I have just print the rest of the pattern and crocheting slowly but sure everyday now.

Here it is I finally add some bold color as I thought it looks so cold, I just use any acrylic yarn I have at hand and add some new color when I see some are nearly gone.  So this blanket may have finish in colors differently from when I start it.

I still love how it turns our, maybe because I am making it myself ....

Anyway, more next week on this blanket ... let's see how far I will managed to do this week.

Crochet Orange Clutch

Hallo again, it's been sometime since I last post.  Yes I know, I promise to post more often but it still is not happening.  Anyway, here is the story behind my Orange Clutch ... (not exactly mine actually):

Orange clutch
Novita Huvila, hook 2,25mm

Last week my cousin ask me if I can make a clutch for to put her wallet and phone when she goes out for lunch at work.  And I said yes .... I didn't even know what it would be like but I just say yes.

She wanted orange as it is one of her favorite color at the moment ....

So after looking for some idea on pinterest, I come up with this shell motif and all the time I just change how it will look like as the final product.  The reason for the changes was that she has quiet a big wallet from the measurements she gave me, so I checked all the time if it was okay.  Finally I add the side so it will be a bit thick.  It's now finish ... well almost finish, I am making the handle at the moment and still have to line it.  Taking the time, while my mind is already in vacation.

Hopefully she will be happy with the end result ....

Thanks for trusting me with making the clutch sweet cousin ...

Have a nice Sunday everybody ...

CAL 2014

I finally made a decision to be involved with CAL 2014, from a face book group called Dutch Crochet, a Granny a day 2013.  I had been looking at all the nice blankets (dekens in Dutch) all the ladies had made.  I have to say it all just make my hand itchy to also join in, but i wasn't sure until just a few days ago.

I have to say, I made the right decision not only to join the CAL but also to dare my self in posting the few rows that I have crocheted last yesterday.  And oh boy, what a surprise I got from all the ladies!!!!
I am so pleased, they are all so supportive, knowing that this group is in Dutch a language that I have learnt in my teen, even though I use it in talking with my mom at home occasionally.  It's a great feeling, when you are around people with the same passion.  and you know you can count on them for advice and support.

Here is the few rows I crocheted yesterday .

I crochet with hook 3,5 and 4, acrylic yarn.

It has been a good day ....

Have a nice Sunday ....

Recycle old kitchen towels

Just yesterday I had to shortened hubby's jeans and when I finished it I thought about sewing the kitchen towels I found in Red Cross second hand store about 2 months ago.  I found a very interesting inspirations in one of Mollie Makes magazine about a woman who turned old kitchen towels with bold nice pictures.  And I want to make them too, so when I score some kitchen towels in Red Cross second hand store I know I had to buy them.

Here is a picture of the three pillow cases I made yesterday.  The crocheted one I finished sometime ago but have just finished it into a case. While the other two are the ones from kitchen towels I found.

Here is a picture of the kitchen towel pillow case (the one on the back) :
I choose red and yellow buttons to add more interest to it and sew it with embroidery thread.

And the small long pillow :

I love the picture in this kitchen towel, it's about cheeses from all over France.

Spring is about to arrive .... enjoy the sun ....

Can't wait to finish the girl and begin with the boy ...

There is also crochet pattern for Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, but that has to wait for a while ... have to much on the hook at the moment ..

Present for a little baby girl

Yesterday I go for coffee time at a friend's house, she had a baby girl about  5 months ago and I have not seen her since before summer holiday.  It's been so long .....

I can't go to her place not bringing anything for the baby, can I?  Nooo, noo .... so the night before I looked for any crochet idea that can be make in a short time .... a very short time actually, just one night.  Huh huh ..., so I start browsing through my favorite blog Annemarie's Haakblog, there you can find all great links to other crochet blogs. It is from her blog I found the link to .... uups I forget the name of the blog (damn) ...- I will look for it and when i find it I link it here.

Anyway, I made this with Primavera Cotton and it turn out so cute, my first attempt to this baby toy ...

I am happy with it, even my 9,5 yrs old son said it is cute ....

I had a great time at her place, chatting having coffee and eating macaroni casserole that she made.

Too bad I had to go home at 14:00 cause my son didn't bring his key and I had a business call to attend to between 14:00 - 15:00 ....

Lacy Bolero in blue

Last week I finish the Lacy Bolero from Simply Crochet magazine issue 3, there was some error in the pattern or I don't understand it.  Anyway after some emails to and from the editor of the magazine, we got the revised one (maybe just for those who has been asking for it).

I use Finnish yarn Rose (mohair) from Novita to make this in blue and it turns out very nice.  The yarn has sequins on it so it gave some sparkle to the bolero.

Not so long time ago, a friend of mine has just gave birth to a baby girl and I decided to make a small gift for the baby.  It's an Owl Hat which is very popular lately.

I used Miami Novita yarn.

Craft Fair in Helsinki, 4-6 May 2013

Last month in Helsinki there was a Craft Fair, and I just had to go and see. Luckily my husband was able to take me there, and at the same time and place there was also the Children's Show, so the boys were having a good time as well.

I found the book Virkkuri, wich was written by Molla Mills a very hip crocheter in Finland.  At first I browse through her book as it is in Finnish and was not sure if I would be able to understand it, but surprisingly it was very easy to understand and follow so I bought the book and also got the signature in it.  She happened to be at the craft show.  What a beautiful woman she is .... and the same time there was also another writer Elina Hiltunen who wrote the Amigurumi abc which is very cute.  They are both very nice people, love meeting them both .....

and here are the books that I bought at the craft show

I was very pleased to get these books at the Craft Fair.
